THE INSPIRATION
As an artiste, Tettey's lyrics come out of his personal experiences. Very often songs, lyrics, music come when he is taking a shower. Tettey gives God the glory as the source of his inspiration and musical talents.
HUMPHREY TETTEY is a gifted singer and songwriter from Accra, Ghana, currently based in New Jersey, U.S. A. He is best known for his indigenous and contemporary blend of gospel music coupled with his creative stage craft and his appeal to a global audience. He has always had a love for music so by the age of 18 he was already playing music and performing in churches in Ghana, until he moved to the United States.
In November 2017, he put together a unique group of vocalists birthing the group - Radical Worshippers who would help him lift the Name of Jesus through worship. The group held their debut concert (dubbed ‘Radical Worship’) that same year. Also, that same year he released his first EP dubbed ‘ADOM’ (Grace).
THE ARTISTE
By 2019, Tettey released his first single My Gratitude’ which landed him nominations in the first ever Ghana Music Awards USA 2020 where he also performed as part of the opening act.
Despite his success, that year, Tettey realized that the world had spiraled into a pandemic and fear. It was the perfect time to give hope. He released his second single titled Running Back&. Running Back is a song of reflection, return, renewal, and restoration whether in the things of God, in relationships, or in whatever personal challenges we may encounter. It is a song about restoration and choosing to love God again. With its appeal to a wide audience in a season of turmoil, it is not surprising that in 2021 Tettey received four nominations at Ghana Music Awards USA for four major categories: U.S. Based Gospel Song of the Year, U.S. Based Gospel Artiste of the Year, U.S. Based Male Artiste of the Year and finally, U.S. Based Male Vocalist of the year. That evening, Humphrey Tettey took home the award for U.S. Based Male Vocalist of the Year after a riveting performance of a medley of Ghanian songs of praise.
When asked about the inspiration of ‘Running Back’, Tettey shared that it came from a place of longing more for God and the realization that God was the only real Shelter amidst every storm.
In 2021 He released W'Ayeyi followed by My Helper in 2022.With his passion and love for God, it is no surprise that Humphrey Tettey is quickly becoming a household name in worship and in spreading the good news of the gospel.
RADICAL WORSHIP
God is always at work in our lives. Sometimes we get discouraged as we wait. But waiting does not mean to stop. In fact, waiting means that we get to mount up with wings as eagles, run and not grow weary and walk and not faint. I pray that God will teach us how to propel our lives by learning how to wait.
WAITING ON THE PROMISES OF GOD
God's delay is never His denial. Everything begins with a seed. Our God is a God of process. He is like a coach who teaches us step by step. He will never give us overnight success because He knows we will never be able to sustain it. The race is never to the swift. It's only for those who can endure. We need to learn to trust Him through the process.
